Candidates must hold an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field, and a graduate degree (Ph.D. completed or expected by the start date of the appointment) in Computer Science, Computing, Software Engineering, Applied Mathematics or a closely related discipline. Graduate training in areas such as algorithm analysis, data structures, programming paradigms, or computational theory is preferred. Knowledge of formal languages, operating systems, and advanced algorithm design is highly valued. 

Applicants should demonstrate strong conceptual foundations in computing, particularly in areas such as algorithms, data structures, programming paradigms, and core computer science principles. Experience applying computational thinking and problem-solving to real-world challenges, as well as participation in interdisciplinary projects, software development initiatives, or technological innovation activities, will be positively valued. 

About the Computing and Analytics Area 

The Computing and Analytics area brings together five key disciplines: Artificial Intelligence, Data Engineering, Software Development, Data Analytics, and Operations Research. The area plays a central role in supporting the undergraduate programs in Systems Engineering and Mathematical Engineering, a graduate program in Software Development, the Master’s in Data Science and Analytics, and the Ph.D. programs in Engineering and Mathematical Engineering. It also hosts the coordination of the university’s general education courses in Statistics and Computational Thinking.
