We seek candidates with a Ph.D. in Geology, Earth Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Geography, Geophysics, or related fields, with emphasis in understanding physical processes that shape landscapes across different geographic and temporal scales, the interaction between surface processes and urban and environmental systems and the assessment and management of geological and environmental risks. 

Applicants are expected to have professional and teaching experience in areas of study such as geomorphology, geography, geographic information systems (GIS), landscape evolution, surface processes and natural hazards across multiple temporal and spatial scales. Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to work within highly complex systems, both urban and rural. A track record or potential in the formulation, design, and implementation of territorial planning projects regarding preliminary and detailed studies will be highly valued. Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate abilities to articulate interdisciplinary approaches, integrating Earth Sciences, spatial analysis, and the strategic use of data to support decision-making in complex territorial systems.

The Territories and Cities Area brings together an interdisciplinary team committed to understanding, shaping, and preserving natural and built environments. Its approach integrates science, design, and engineering to tackle challenges such as sustainable urban growth, infrastructure, transportation, housing, and land use, delivering solutions that enhance livability and support decision-making. 

General Requirements

Education level: PhD.

English level: B2 (minimum).

On-site work in Medellín.

Full-time.
