We are looking for an Estimating Team Lead to play a strategic role in ensuring that all estimates are completed accurately, on time, and aligned with company standards, while optimizing internal team capacity and maintaining control over estimating performance.
This professional is accountable for the performance, accuracy, and development of the estimating team and serves as the owner of the estimating function prior to project award.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the estimating team, providing continuous feedback, evaluating performance, and ensuring alignment with goals and standards.
- Ensure the accuracy of all estimates, aligned with project scope, drawings, and company guidelines.
- Review and validate high-risk or high-volume estimates prior to submission.
- Analyze variances between estimates and execution, identifying root causes and implementing improvements.
- Assign and distribute work based on team capacity, project complexity, size, and deadlines.
- Maintain visibility over workload, pipeline, and backlog, preventing bottlenecks and delays.
- Closely coordinate with the preconstruction team on project intake, prioritization, deadlines, and assignments.
- Make final decisions regarding estimator assignments and team priorities.
- Implement and enforce structured cross-checking processes based on project complexity.
- Standardize estimating criteria, assumptions, and practices to ensure team consistency.
- Maintain an active role in estimating, focusing on complex, strategic, or high-risk projects.
- Support the team when additional capacity or technical assistance is needed.
- Monitor key metrics: estimator productivity, minimum output compliance, accuracy, estimate variances (busts), and external resource usage.
- Provide visibility into team performance and costs associated with external estimating services (tracking).
- Lead weekly meetings with estimating, engineering, and preconstruction teams to review production, pipeline, assignments, risks, and estimate quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or related fields.
- Fluent conversational English (C1 required).
- 5+ years of progressive experience in construction estimating, preconstruction, or structural steel estimating.
- 1+ years of experience leading teams.
- Proficiency in at least one rebar calculation/estimation platform (aSa Estimating, Shear 97, Soulé, RGS or equivalent).
- Ability to provide performance feedback, coaching, and development support.
