The Role We're looking for a Strategic Finance Manager to drive the ad-hoc analysis behind Somos's biggest decisions. Reporting to the VP of Finance, you'll take on strategic questions — pricing, expansion, M&A, competitive response — build the analysis and modeling to answer them, and push the resulting decisions through the business. You'll also support the VP on capital raises, diligence, and investor relations.

You are AI-native. That means AI is your default — how you build models, structure analyses, and turn a question into a recommendation.

You'll work closely with the VP of Finance and department heads day to day, and with outside counsel, bankers, and investors during capital raises. This requires a sharp analytical mind and a polished communicator who can represent Somos credibly.

This is a decision-support seat first — ad-hoc analysis, modeling, and driving change based on numbers. Day-to-day budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting are owned by a separate Director, FP&A; you'll rely on their numbers, but that planning cadence sits outside this role. The VP of Finance sets overall strategy and holds final sign-off.

What You'll Do Strategic Analysis & Decision Support

  • Lead ad-hoc analysis on major strategic questions — pricing, market expansion, competitive response, build-vs-buy — and drive the resulting decisions through the business.

  • Evaluate M&A, partnership, and market-expansion opportunities — build the business case and recommend courses of action.

  • Build competitive and market intelligence — benchmarking, market sizing, and positioning analysis.

  • Develop strategic frameworks — expansion IRR, unit economics at scale, scenario trade-offs — and carry them through to implementation.

  • Proactively identify strategic risks and opportunities and bring them to the VP of Finance with a recommendation.

Financial Modeling Support

  • Support the VP of Finance and Director, FP&A on modeling for strategic decisions — M&A cases, financing scenarios, capital-structure trade-offs.

  • Build and maintain standalone models for initiatives outside the core FP&A model (new lines of business, partnership structures, deal analysis).

  • Stress-test assumptions and sensitivities on major financial decisions before they reach the board.

Capital Raising, Diligence & Investor Relations (Support)

  • Support capital raise processes (equity/debt) under the VP's direction: data room prep, diligence responses, and process coordination.

  • Support investor-facing materials and the board narrative, working from FP&A numbers.

  • Assist with cap table and equity administration tracking, coordinating with legal and the Controller.

  • Help manage the investor and lender relationship calendar — data requests and follow-ups.

AI-First Execution

  • Use AI as your primary tool for building models, running analysis, and drafting recommendations — not as a supplement.

  • Apply the AI-first standard already set across the finance function to your own workflows.

  • Leverage AI to compress turnaround times on data room requests and diligence responses.

  • Stay current on AI tooling relevant to strategic finance and fundraising.

What We're Looking For Required

  • MBA required — new or recent graduate — with pre-MBA experience in investment banking, private equity, or growth equity, plus a stint in management consulting.

  • Demonstrated ability to run ad-hoc financial/strategic analysis that leads to real business decisions.

  • Strong financial modeling skills — comfortable building complex scenario and decision models.

  • Full bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English — written and spoken.

  • AI-native: you use AI by default to build, analyze, and draft materials — and can demonstrate it.

  • Polished communicator — credible with executives day-to-day and with investors during active raises.

  • Sharp analytical thinker — able to frame a problem, structure analysis, and land on a clear answer.

  • High editorial standards on investor- and board-facing materials.
