The School of Applied Sciences and Engineering at Universidad EAFIT invites candidates to apply to a faculty position in the Area of Product and Experience Design. We are looking to fill one tenure-track vacancy by the beginning of 2026, at the level of Assistant Professor. Hiring dates are flexible.

Viable candidates should hold a Ph.D. degree (by the time of appointment) in science or engineering, depending on the application details provided below. Successful candidates will be expected to teach basic and advance science and engineering courses, mandatory core and elective trajectory courses, in related undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as in continuing/executive education programs; to establish and grow a recognized research program, and to contribute to established research groups and the strategic goals of the thrust area of affiliation; to have the ability to transfer scientific knowledge to organizations and society, and participate in consulting projects or have interest in entrepreneurship; and to help advance the overall success of the School of Applied Sciences and Engineering, and the University.

We are seeking a faculty member with a strong foundation in production/manufacturing engineering to lead teaching and applied projects in advanced manufacturing and Industry 4.0, spanning automation, cyber-physical integration, and the simulation and validation of manufacturing processes, cells, and lines. The emphasis is manufacturing-first—process physics, controls, automation, and shop-floor practice; analytics is welcome but not the core.

A Ph.D. in Engineering (Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Production, or related) is required, along with practical experience in manufacturing processes and systems with modeling/simulation and, ideally, virtual commissioning; the ability to work with automation and robotics and to integrate solutions with the shop floor and plant-level systems; and a track record—or clear potential—for industry collaboration and student mentoring in labs and projects.

We particularly value (preferred, not required) candidates who can bridge the stack from CAD/CAM/PLM through MES to PLC/robotics/SCADA, and who bring experience in automation, sensing, traceability, and process control, using simulation and digital twins as part of their toolkit. Covering all these areas is not necessary; applications with clear strengths in several will be considered.
